Property tax appeals for commercial property owners in Indiana

We help owners of stores, gas stations, warehouses, offices and hotels in Marion County and Lake County appeal their property tax assessment. We do the paperwork and the meetings with the assessor. You approve every step.

How it works

  1. Check your property. Look it up above. You see last year's value, this year's value, and an estimate of the tax difference.
  2. Sign up online. It takes about 10 minutes. You sign a fee agreement and one power of attorney form (State Form 23261) for each company.
  3. Approve the filing. Before the deadline, we email you a one-page brief. You choose to file or to skip.
  4. We handle the appeal. We prepare the evidence, you approve it, and we go to the meeting with the assessor. You get an invoice only after the official decision, and only if the value went down.

More about how it works

The Indiana rule about large increases

Indiana law (IC 6-1.1-15-20) sets special rules for appeals of assessments that rose more than 5% over the prior year, unless the increase came from new improvements, zoning, or a change in use, and subject to other conditions in the statute (for example, for income-producing property, providing income information when requested). Whether those rules apply to a particular parcel is decided in the appeal.

An appeal can also end with a higher value. Before you approve filing, your brief shows what a higher value would cost you.
